The Art Museum

The Art Museum in Turku has more than one great art pieces in the building. There were many different pieces of art which had their own kind features, which showed their own feeling’s depending on the many own kind of induvial painters with different experiences and feelings. Among many paintings in the museum, one that we choose was a painting known as “Jungle Fever” by Petri Ala-Maunus, who born in 1970. He lives and works in Helsinki and is known as one of the great oil painters in Finland. He’s most known painting is known as saccharine sunset. The series of the landscape works are have been shown in many palaces but most of showroom have been the school of Romantic landscape paintings, in art academy in Düsseldorf. And so is the painting called “Jungle Fever” which was realest in 2013. This piece of art stood out amongst all the other pieces of art in the museum partially because of its many colors, shapes and stormy, but beautiful outcome. At first sight of the painting looks like there is a storm gushing through the jungle, consisting of strong wind gushes destroying anything in its path. Most of the jungle looks destroyed at first sight but once you take closer look you can see that the weak trees have fallen but the strong trees who can survive against the strong wind, held their ground and survived. We can also see mountains and a rocky bed of water between the trees. The waterfall is a symbol of strength even if it might not be very clear to be a waterfall it would fit perfectly to the surroundings and adds a nice touch to the painting. After analyzing the painting for a while, we concluded that the painting represents how even through destruction there is still a sign of creation and beauty. We also thought that the fallen trees are a symbol to represent the weak and old, how as time passes, the old and lonely trees eventually fall and make space for others to grow. How the group of trees are stronger together as they have each other to lean upon in the end and have the capability to survive through any problems even if the problems are as big as a storm. All in all, this is a painting that can be interpreted in different ways. The mood probably plays a big role, if someone is feeling sad, he might believe that the painting represents sad things. However, is it a great painting which should get a lot more attention.
